Loch Ness Monster
The Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie, as she is affectionately known, is one of the best known myths in the world. Loch Ness is the largest freshwater lake in the UK. It is 24 miles long and in places over a mile wide. It is situated in the Great Glen in Scotland, between the towns of Fort William and Inverness. In the 1800s a monster was first reported as living in the Loch and ever since then visitors have come from all over the world to look for it and see where it lives.
Whether you believe in it or not, there is no doubt that there have been plenty of documented sightings of Nessie over the years and the beautiful area surrounding the loch ensures that anyone who travels here will not be disappointed with their visit.

April 1933 saw the first recorded sighting and since then many photographs have been taken, some of which have since been proved to be a hoax.
