The Great Glen Way
The Great Glen Way is a 73 mile walk between Fort William and Inverness, going through Gairlochy, Clunes, South Laggan, Invergarry, Aberchalder, Fort Augustus, Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit.
This photograph is taken in the centre of Fort Augustus, the boat is entering the Caledonian Canal from Loch Ness through the swing bridge that crosses the road.
Fort Augustus is about half way along the route.
The walk will take you through the Great Glen on towpaths along the Caledonian Canal, alongside and high above Loch Ness, through woodland and over mountains.
Along the walk you will be able to see:
Neptune’s Staircase, Fort William
Commando Memorial, Spean Bridge
Clan Cameron Museum, Clunes
Well of Seven Heads, Loch Oich
Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness
Absolutely stunning views
Maybe even the Loch Ness Monster!
The walk is suggested to be carried out over 4, 5 or 6 days depending on how long you want to walk each day.
